( it takes a little while for Steve to get his bearings after everything with Agnete. he's hurt, for starters. he's ashamed, too, which is definitely worse. and while it's tempting to just stick his head in the sand and pretend he didn't fuck it all up monstrously — well, considering he was this close to getting somebody else mauled along with him, Steve doesn't really feel like he can.
